Rothman & Winter Creme de Violette

This pours a beautiful deep violet color and has a delicate floral taste that’s not too syrupy. Mixed it into a gin sour and it added just the right hint of lavender without overpowering the drink.

I’ve been using this in cocktails for a few weeks now—the floral sweetness is delicate enough not to overpower gin. The 700ml bottle lasts a decent while if you’re just adding a splash per drink.

The bottle from Austria is a solid 750ml, and it’s the perfect backbone for a proper Aviation—the violet flavor comes through clean without turning syrupy. I’ve used it in two cocktails already and the depth it adds is exactly what I was after.
