High West Double Rye 750ml

This rye’s mint and pine notes hit right away, but the caramel underneath keeps it smooth enough for sipping neat. I’ve been mixing it in old fashioneds too, and the peppery finish holds up perfectly against the bitters. A solid bottle for the price.

The pepper and baking spice layers make this rye stand out; it's surprisingly smooth for a 46% ABV pour. I've been sipping it neat and it balances the heat with a nice caramel sweetness underneath. This bottle is what finally got me to appreciate rye whiskey.

Opened this expecting a one-note spicy rye, but the older herbal component really rounds it out—mint and pepper up front, then that caramel underneath keeps it interesting. Good sipping neat for the price, though I wish the finish lingered a touch longer.
