Opened this with dinner guests and the blackberry and licorice notes were instantly noticeable on the nose. On the palate, it's lighter than I expected for a red, with a pleasant tartness from the bilberry that paired beautifully with salmon.

I was pleasantly surprised by how the blackberry and bilberry notes came through on the nose — really fresh and inviting. The palate is smooth with just enough complexity from the cherry brandy hint to keep it interesting.

That licorice and undergrowth note on the finish is what really sets it apart—it’s earthy but still bright on the palate. The blackberry and cherry brandy hint make it feel more complex than most pinots I’ve tried at this price.
