Opened this bottle last night and the blackberry fruit is bursting through, but the tannins have a nice grip that keeps it from being too jammy. It’s got a good structure from the oak, and the finish slowly fades with pepper and dark fruit.

The pepper note on the finish really lingers, but the blackberry fruit keeps it smooth enough to sip on its own. Those rich tannins give it a nice grip that I’d want with a hearty meal, though it’s plenty drinkable right now.

Popped this open with some grilled steak, and those rich tannins paired perfectly with the char. The pepper and oak notes linger nicely—really well balanced for the price.
