A few drops of this in a margarita and the habanero heat lingers just long enough to be fun without scorching the whole drink. The berry and spice mix keeps it from tasting like pure hot sauce, which is exactly what I wanted for experimenting at home.

I was skeptical about adding heat to cocktails without throwing off the balance, but the blend of chile and berries in this shrub works perfectly—just enough warmth without overpowering the drink.

The heat lands exactly where it should—a slow, pleasant burn that never overwhelms the drink. I’ve used it in a simple bourbon cocktail and the berry notes round out the spice beautifully. One dash is plenty for a subtle kick.
