Vega Sicilia Tinto Valbuena 5 2018

The 2018 vintage is a knockout — that lush, deeply layered character lives up to the "immensely fine" description, and the bottle disappeared way too fast at dinner. I've had pricier wines that didn't come close to this level of complexity.

Opened this bottle last weekend and the complexity is just stunning—every sip unfolds a new layer of dark fruit and spice. The 2018 vintage has such a lush, velvety mouthfeel that it paired perfectly with our roast lamb. Definitely one of the finest Spanish reds I’ve had in a while.

The dark fruit notes are unbelievably layered, and the tannins are so silky for a wine this young. It’s lush without being heavy, really a special bottle for a quiet celebration. I’m already thinking about grabbing another.
